Dr. Zee is a Consultant Medical Oncologist at the National University Cancer Institute, Singapore (NCIS). Dr. Zee received his medical dual degree with distinction from University College London, the United Kingdom. He is also a Drummond Award recipient in physiology. After being accepted as a member of the Royal School of Physicians (UK), Dr. Zee worked at the Royal Marsden Hospital in London before completing specialist training in the field of Oncology at National University Hospital, Singapore. He then underwent research training at Christie Hospital and the Paterson Institute for Cancer Research in Manchester, where he focused on anti-cancer drug development.
At NCIS, Dr. Zee conducts translational and clinical research as the primary chair or co-chair in national and international trials involving new targeted therapies for cancers such as colorectal, stomach, liver, and pancreatic cancers. He published his work as the first author in high-ranking journals including the British Journal of Cancer, Journal Clinical Oncology, Lancet Oncology and Nature Reviews. His dedication to research and patient care has been recognized by receiving various awards, including the Clinical Research Support Fund- National Medical Research Council, NCIS Researchers Protected Time Grant and Outstanding Service Award from SPRING magazine, Singapore.
Dr. Zee is a member of the American Society of Clinical Oncology and a founding member of the Singapore Association of Hepatobiliary-Gallbladder Diseases. He continues to serve as a permanent member of the Special Review Committee, National HealthCare Group.
In addition to the general medical oncology specialist, Dr. Zee has a special interest in gastro-esophageal, liver, pancreatic and colorectal cancers.
Currently, Dr. Zee Ying Kiat is cooperating with Thu Cuc International General Hospital to treat cancer patients in Vietnam. Accordingly, the treatment is carried out right at Thu Cuc International General Hospital.
